PATFA invites you to join part-time faculty members from around Maine at the 2019 Annual Meeting – at two locations on Saturday, May 18, 2019.
We will gather in Portland and Bangor for a 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. meeting using video conference technology. A free lunch will be provided at both locations.
The Part-time Faculty Association of Maine (PATFA) represents the 2,000 adjunct faculty members at the seven universities of the University of Maine System. All adjuncts are welcome and are invited to this meeting, although only PATFA members may vote.
President Michele Cheung will report on PATFA activities, including the recent start of contract negotiations. All University of Maine System part-time faculty members are covered by a contract that expires at the end of August 2019, and the Annual Meeting will allow time for discussion about issues and priorities for negotiations.
The meeting also will allow time for discussion of recent court rulings affecting adjuncts, pending legislation in Augusta affecting public employees, and other issues in higher education.
PATFA is Local 4593 of the American Federation of Teachers.
Part of us will meet in Room 133 of the Wishcamper Center at the University of Southern Maine campus in Portland. That’s 34-44 Bedford St. Parking is available across the street.
Part of us will meet in Room 119 of Lewiston Hall on the Bangor campus of the University of Maine at Augusta. That’s 65 Texas Ave. Parking is available just outside the building.
