The University of Maine System on Feb. 20 announced appointment of the Human Resources administrator who will concentrate on equal opportunity and Title IX programs. Sarah E. Harebo now serves as director of equal opportunity for both the System office and the University of Maine.
Here is part of the news release from Mark Schmelz, interim chief Human Resources officer for the System:
“… In her new capacity as Director of Equal Opportunity for the System, [Harebo] provides leadership and management in administering UMS Equal Employment Opportunity (EOO) and Title IX programs while working to advance the values of an inclusive learning community. [Harebo] is directly responsible for such key functions as planning and oversight of policy making, compliance, and development of diversity and training initiatives. More specific to her function at the University of Maine, [Harebo] also supports vice presidents, deans, department chairs, and managers in identifying, resolving, and preventing equal employment opportunity and Title IX complaints and oversees the work of the campus Title IX coordinators and deputy coordinators. [Harebo] comes to her new role in UMS Human Resources from Smith College where she most recently served as Title IX Coordinator and Institutional Equity Officer with particular emphasis upon compliance, complaint investigations, planning and implementation of training programs, and policy development.”
